As with all of our training, our group class will focus first on your relationship with your dog. We'll teach you how to:

  • Structure and manage behaviors in order to create good ones and prevent the bad ones.
  • Develop your dog's motivation for food, toys/play, etc.
  • Learn how to properly mark (signal) a behavior you want your dog to do.
  • Help you build engagement with your dog.

Our Functional Group Classes focus on one individual behavior or command at a time - from start to finish. And by finish, we mean that you will be able to reach your goal of having your dog perform the command consistently and under distraction with impulse control.  Each class will meet once a week for 3-6 weeks depending on the behavior/command.

Traditional group classes tend to focus on many commands, which can give you a start to training, but rarely gives you what you need to have those commands function in the real world or help your dog with impulse control.  In addition, there may be commands that do not apply to your situation.  For many years we did our classes this way, but in listening to our clients, we decided to apply the same customized and focused approach we use in our private sessions to our group classes.

Our group classes will help you reach a functionality of the most common issues like:

  • Loose leash walking
  • Coming when called (recall)
  • Properly greeting people
  • Going to a cot, bed or rug (and staying there)

This is our "Hey Dog, don't drag me down the street!" class.

We will begin with engagement and foundation work and establishing the appropriate marker(s).  Then we will work together on our specific progression plan to meet your leash walking goals.  This may mean just not pulling or maybe a more formal heel.

BONUS: To support your training between classes, each class will have their own private Facebook group.  Everyone can post their training videos if they like, ask questions, we'll post demo videos, etc.
